Sue Trickey

Gloucestershire artist Sue Trickey

It is only in recent years that I have had time to devote to art due to a busy work and family life.  Art has always been a passion of mine and I am delighted to have the time to pursue this now.

I am a self taught artist except for a few evening classes.  I will be forever learning! I am inspired by nature, wildlife, history, faith, hope, love and music.

Life has not been easy for me, just a few years ago I lost my eldest son (22yrs) in a road traffic accident.  Grief and loss are a part of life's difficult journey for me. Since this loss my works have changed.... I want share my hope of life after death and that love never ends, love never fails.  My Christian faith remains strong and you will see in some of my artworks I intertwine vintage bible text as inspired. I want my artwork to be full of life, hope and meaning.

My early works were created in fine ink pen, fine coloured inks and watercolours. This has progressed into creating mixed media artworks. I use scraps from worn out vintage bibles and books, music books, old book bindings and covers, children's artwork, broken jewellery, beads, gold leaf. Vintage papers, greetings paper and other miscellaneous items.  I sometimes create small sculptures out of wire and beads which I add to my artworks.  Recently I enjoy creating 3 dimensional works.  For some works I encourage viewing through a magnifying glass to see and read all the fine detail.  Some works have taken me over 6 months to create.
