I've been painting for about 20 years, and am self-taught. I mostly make use of acrylics as a medium, painting on canvas board, or on box canvases. Sometimes I work with watercolours. I specialise in fine art portraits, but also paint landscapes and wildlife scenes.
My speciality is creating a shallow depth of field effect on canvas. This creates depth to the painting by varying the degree of focus throughout the painting. This technique works well for portraits, and certain types of still-life. I also enjoy working with quite strong colours, which is ideal with acrylic as a medium.
My portraits often feature models from around the world, who kindly give me permission to create elegant paintings based upon images from their modelling portfolios. My thanks go to the many friends I have made through these projects, as well as to the professional photographers I have collaborated with.

I help run the Open Air Art Exhibition in Cheltenham, and I am the webmaster of cheltenham-art.com and gardensgallery.co.uk. I am also a published novelist and science writer, and have appeared on television, radio and in numerous magazines.
You can see my work in the waiting room at Norfolk House Dental Surgery, London Road, Gloucester and at the Bugatti Inn pub/restaurant in Gretton, Glos, GL54 5EU. A specialised company in Germany uses my most celebrated painting, 'Woman Bathing' as the template for one of their remarkable mosaics.
Andy Lloyd is often commissioned to paint portraits of
people and animals, as well as a range of murals. The prices of his
commissioned paintings vary from £30 to £60 depending upon the
size of the painting and complexity of the subject matter. Paintings are
supplied framed and ready to hang, or un-framed for mail-orders outside the
county. Orders have been successfully met for clients in the USA.
